Karl L. Walters received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1992. He is a registered engineer in the states of Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Missouri.
Prior to his employment at Jack D. Walters & Associates, Karl was an Associate with the firm of Jezerinac-Geers & Associates Inc., Dublin, Ohio, where he was responsible for structural design on a wide variety of projects and structural systems. Karl Walters is experienced in structural design and production; design of reinforced concrete, structural steel, wood, and masonry structures; computer modelling and programming, and project estimating. He has assisted in the management of the construction of office/warehouse buildings and has been responsible for the structural design of office, institutional, educational, and industrial buildings including the development of the structural plans, production of structural details, and review of shop drawings.
Since joining the firm in 1997 Karl has been the lead project engineer and performed structural design and project management for a variety of construction projects, including residential, multi-family, retail, commercial, educational, manufacturing, concrete rehabilitation, and over 25institutional retirement and assisted living facilities. Karl is also responsible for conducting structural inspections and investigations on a consulting engineering basis for an estimated 100 projects per year, including wood and steel framing issues, concrete failure analysis, and serving as an engineering forensic consultant/ expert witness.
Karl is a member of the National Council of Examiners of Engineers and Surveyors (NCEES), the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the American Forest and Paper Association (AF&PA), and the Structural Engineers Association of Ohio (SEAoO).
Michael J. Newport received an Associate Degree in Mechanical Technology (design and drafting) from the State University of New York, Morrisville New York in 1994. He was certified as a Graduate Home Inspector by the Center for International Certification Programs Inc. in 2006.
Prior to his employment at Jack D. Walters & Associates, Mike was an associate draftsperson and project leader/designer with Construction Design, Inc. of Grove City Ohio where he was responsible for design development, production of complete construction document and permit sets, and maintaining office information systems, hardware, and backup systems; project estimator for Command Heating Inc. of Grove City, Ohio, where he was responsible for production of HVAC system drawings, and creating accurate pricing estimates for HVAC installations; and associate draftsperson for Mark Denny Architect of Columbus, Ohio where he was responsible for production of preliminary designs and construction drawings, and for construction observation and writing field reports.
At Jack D. Walters & Associates Mike Newport has been responsible for the production, coordination, and crosschecking of construction and permit sets for architectural and engineering projects, intranet data management on large scale projects, documentation of completed projects, maintaining office computer hardware, network system, large and small format plotters, and internet data transfers. He has also served as an inspection technician for engineering issues related to both residential and commercial projects, as well as collecting data for special inspections of pre-engineered metal building installation and fabricated/welded steel framing.
Mr. Borghese received a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Physics, a minor in Economics, and a concentration in Environmental Studies from John Carroll University in 1986. While attending that university he became a member of Sigma Pi Sigma (Physics Honor Society) and of Alpha Sigma Nu, (Honor Society of Jesuit Colleges and Universities). He received a Master of Architecture Degree from the Ohio State University in 1989. While in the graduate program he was a Graduate Assistant Instructor of Construction Technology and of Modern Architectural History and in 1988 he was selected to receive the Architects Society of Ohio Medal. He received his Ohio license of architectural registration in 1994. Mr. Borghese has been employed by Jack D. Walters & Associates Inc. since 1989 and has prior experience with the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA).
He has had considerable experience with new construction and with building repair/renovation projects, with specific attention to building code compliance, moisture protection regarding roof systems, exterior wall restoration, and building structural framing analysis and design. He has expertise in code analysis, product research and specification, heat transfer, model energy code compliance, mechanical systems design, electrical systems, preparation of working drawings and specifications, construction administration and observation, and is the firm green building/ sustainable practices co-ordinator. Mr. Borghese has been project team leader on approximately 300 new construction or renovation projects, covering the firm’s full range of architectural practice.
Mr. Borghese is a member of the American Concrete Institute (ACI International), the Construction Specifications Institute (C.S.I), and has been a member of the jury panel for the masonry awards program of the Ohio Masonry Contractor’s Association.
Steven Stroh received a Bachelor of Architecture Degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1986. He is a registered architect practicing in the state of Ohio.
Prior to his employment at Jack D. Walters & Associates, Steve had a sole proprietorship architectural firm. The projects that Steve completed during this time included single and multifamily residential projects, medical office, commercial office, industrial/warehouse, retail design and historic preservation projects. In addition, Steve provided contract services to several architectural and retail design firms in Ohio. Steve took a break in the middle of this time with his practice to work as a construction superintendent for Highland/Brexton Development, working on a large mixed used, multifamily project, a condominium building and a sales center for a large planned community. Before starting his firm, Steve worked for several architectural and retail design firms in the Cincinnati and Columbus areas. Since joining the firm in 2014 Steve has been A project architect.
Was an Industrial Design Major at The Ohio State University 1984-1986. She started working as a Designer/Draftsperson for Jack D. Walters & Associates, Inc. in September 1986. She left for an opportunity to head up the Drafting Department at Nocar Construction May of 2001. In January of 2002, she started working for Prime Engineering and Architecture as a Designer / Draftsperson working solely on projects for the U.S. Military branches after 9/11/2001 using UFC 4-010-01 the DoD Minimum antiterrorism Standards for Buildings. In July of 2014 she left Prime, took the Revit course provided by 3DTi, and in early 2015 began working at Jack D. Walters & Associates Inc. She currently is a technical Draftsperson as well as handling office administrative matters.
